SECOND MICHIGAN WOMEN’S MUSIC FESTIVAL. AUGUST 25-28
(from Prime Time, August, 1977, p. 34.)
Those who enjoyed last year's exhilarating Michigan Women's Music Festival of 2,200 women can look forward to an even larger line-up of women performers and workshops. This year's women's music festival will be held on 160 acres of partially wooded country land. The land is expansive and has hiking paths, and a shallow river which runs through the back 40 acres. The area where the festival will be held is surrounded by small farm and country communities.
The festival will begin with workshops Thursday, August 25 at 8:00 a.m. Performances will start at around 7:00 Thursday evening and the last performance will be Sunday night.
Musicians such as Margie Adam, Ginni Clemmens, Izquierda,
Therese Edell, Carlota Hernandez, C. T. and April, Teresa Trull are but a part of the number who will spotlight the scheduled concerts. Bring your own instruments for informal jamming and open mike.
Workshops (musical and non-musical) will be scheduled throughout all four days of the festival. A printed schedule of workshops and concerts will be available at the gate.
There will be also a workshop board at the festival to post new workshops.
The political basis of the festival is the creation and affirmation of women's space. We feel it essential that women can come together to learn through music and through collective sharing of our cultures, skills and energies.
Advanced donations for the weekend are $20.00, $5.00 for a day. At the gate, $24.00 donations are being asked for—$6.00 a day. For tickets or more information, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:
