Fall 2020 SIUE SUAA Chapter Meeting
The SIUE Chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) hosted its first virtual fall chapter meeting via Zoom, on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at noon. The meeting was open to SIUE SUAA members and non-members alike.
Our featured speaker was Dr. Kenneth Moffett, Professor and Department Chair in Political Science at SIUE. His topic was: What Do The 2020 Election Results Mean for Higher Education? He presented an overview of a number of things one might expect to happen in higher education, both at the federal and state levels, now that the elections have been decided. At the state level, in particular, he noted that the failure of the Fair Tax amendment will require state-wide budget cuts, but that those budget cuts alone cannot and will not solve the state's debt problems. The entire meeting, with this presentation, was recorded and is available for viewing here.
Members also approved updated bylaws at this meeting. You may view the newly approved bylaws here.
