Sustained Dialogue
Sustained Dialogue is a multi-week program designed to bring students together in small groups to explore complex topics such as race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual identity, religion, age, and ability. Through open and respectful conversations, participants share their stories and experiences, learn from the perspectives of others, and develop the skills to view differences as strengths. Guided by trained moderators, students build meaningful relationships, uncover root causes of community challenges, and transform dialogue into action. Each group experience culminates in an action project proposal, empowering students to contribute to a more inclusive and connected campus community while continuing the process of engagement and learning beyond the program.
Moderators create a learning space for open dialogue that makes it possible for students with differing perspectives on issues to learn the root causes of community problems and build relationships to address these issues with new allies. Student participants are divided into groups of 10-12 students and meet every week to create a safe space for dialogue about stories and experiences.
