Pageant Categories...
Creative Expression
This is an outward display of the contestants’ beliefs, qualities, and characteristics. The contestants are to educate or inform the audience about an issue that they feel strongly about. Each contestant will do so through a dramatic interpretation that stages her life and reflects the world around her.
African Garment
In this category each contestant will be wearing a uniquely designed African garment created and modeled by the contestant. Each contestant will pre record a monologue “What My Black Heritage Means to me” that they will write up themselves and it will be played in the background while each contestant is modeling their African Garment.
Talent
Each contestant will uniquely display personal skills and abilities for three to five minutes.
(Singing, dancing, spoken word)
Evening Gown/Impromptu Question
This category features an escorted contestant in an elegant evening gown. The contestant is asked an impromptu question, which will reflect her ability to answer questions accurately with minimal preparation or thought.

Special Recognition Awards...
Contestant who have displayed outstanding commitment contributions, and behavior throughout the rehearsals and preparations for the pageant may receive one of the following:
Miss Enterprise Award
This award recognizes the contestant who has excelled in marketing and promotional advertising sales in the Miss Black SIUE Ad Booklet and donations. This award will be accompanied by 10% of the total raised by the contestant.
Miss Black Collegiate
This award recognizes the contestant who has achieved and maintained the highest GPA amongst the pageant contestants.
Miss Congeniality Award
This award recognizes the contestant who has achieved the highest respect and genuine friendships amongst the coordinator, the contestants and herself.

Location: Meridian Ballroom at SIUE
Time: Doors open at 5:00PM | Pageant Starts at 6:00PM
General Admission: $10
Dual Pageant/Party Tickets: $15
(Tickets wil be available from 10am - 2pm every Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Tickets can in the Goshen Lounge of the Morris University Center at the Miss Black SIUE. )
