Course 2: Laptop Storage Device Upgrade

Lesson 2: Installing the Solid-State Drive
2.1
Flip over the drive bracket and using a #000x2x1/2” screwdriver, remove the 4 countersunk screws securing the hard drive to the drive bracket.
2.2
With the 4 countersunk screws removed, remove the hard drive from the drive bracket.
2.3
Place the solid-state drive onto the drive bracket. Be sure to line up the screw holes on the solid-state drive with the screw holes on the drive bracket.
2.4
Using a #000x2x1/2” screwdriver and the same 4 countersunk screws, secure the solid-state drive to the drive bracket and flip it back over.
2.5
Place the drive bracket with the solid-state drive into the laptop chassis.
2.6
Using a #000x2x1/2” screwdriver, secure the drive bracket to the laptop chassis using the 4 pan-head screws removed from Lesson 1.
2.7
Carefully connect the SATA data and power cable to the solid-state drive.
2.8
Carefully place the underside cover, from Lesson 1, back onto the laptop chassis.
2.1
Using the #000x2x1/2” screwdriver, secure the underside cover to the laptop chassis using the 12 countersunk screws removed from Lesson 1.
