First-Generation College Student Celebration at SIUE
Celebrating Resilience & Achievement
At SIUE, we proudly celebrate First-Generation College Student Celebration Week, honoring the history and impact of the Higher Education Act of 1965—which expanded access to higher education for countless students, including those who are the first in their families to attend college.
This celebration is dedicated to recognizing the unique experiences and achievements of our first-gen students, while also providing a platform to acknowledge the challenges they face on their journey toward success.
Our Commitment to First-Gen Students
We aim to make SIUE’s campus an accessible and engaging place for first-generation students, fostering an environment where they can thrive, find support, and succeed in their collegiate journey. By recognizing the diversity of first-gen experiences, we’re committed to helping students overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
