Library Set to Launch Redesigned Website on Aug. 29!

Library & Information Services, in collaboration with University Marketing & Communications, is pleased to announce the launch of a newly designed library website! This team has been hard at work since Spring 2018 to build a design with the user in mind. We are excited to share the new look, feel, and function of the website, which is scheduled to go live by Wednesday, August 29 at the latest. Lovejoy Library had a busy summer of construction! The first floor looks much different this fall semester. Some highlights of the renovation:
- Friends Corner: With the relocation of music materials to the third floor, the space for the Friends Corner doubled. The space also features new soft seating and a larger TV monitor to highlight news and events.
- Seating: the rest of the first floor has new soft seating, café tables & chairs, new rolling chairs at desks, and booth style seating. ...

Library awarded Innovation Grant

SIUE’s Chancellor Randy Pembrook worked with the University Quality Council, University Planning and Budget Council to review applications to the inaugural Innovation Grant initiative. Interim Dean Lydia Jackson, Lora Del Rio, Juliet Gray, and Steve Kerber submitted a project for consideration: Lovejoy Library Late Night – Extended Hours Feasibility Study. Reserve a group study room or collaborative table

SIUE students, faculty and staff can now reserve group study rooms in Lovejoy Library for academic use for a maximum of three hours per day. The reservation system is online and available on the library’s newly designed website. Reserve in advance to guarantee a space for you and your group!

Library Fundraiser “Night in the Stacks” Great Success

Approximately 200 guests enjoyed a dinner catered by Sugo’s Spaghetteria and music provided by Al Holliday and the East Side Rhythm Band for Lovejoy Library’s “Night in the Stacks” annual fundraiser Saturday, August 11 at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Lovejoy Library. Among the guests were Interim President of SIU Kevin Dorsey and his wife, Linda, and Board of Trustees Amy Sholar and Shirley Portwood. The event was held on the main level of the library...

Lovejoy Library Begins Strategic Planning

Library faculty and staff participated in a one-day Strategic Planning Library Retreat on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. The retreat was facilitated by two Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) Consultants. The meeting was held in the Mississippi Room at the Morris University Center and was a positive, productive brainstorming session for the future of the library at SIUE. Library hires First Year Engagement & Retention Librarian

Library & Information Services hired Elizabeth Kamper as First Year Engagement & Retention Librarian. Kamper joined SIUE’s library faculty on June 1, 2018. She earned her master’s in library & information science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She brings great knowledge of outreach and course-integrated library instruction. She is helping to redesign the library instruction program and build outreach to SIUE’s first year students.
