Overview
SIUE values the practical and educational experiences you’ve gained from earning your Associates's degree. Our flexible online program allows eligible employees to build on an existing degree to earn a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree in as little as two years.
This degree option is designed for students who have their Medical Laboratory Technology certification and wish to become medical laboratory scientists certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Medical technologists should have a firm understanding of the theory behind the diagnostic tests they perform in the clinical laboratory. Their responsibilities encompass all clinical laboratory disciplines, such as clinical chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, serology, immunology, blood and organ banking, microbiology, parasitology, and nuclear medicine. As self-motivated, inquisitive scientists, medical technologists contribute to the development of new methods and laboratory instrumentation that aid physicians in preventing and curing disease.
SIUE offers free transcript evaluation and waives the application fee for students who apply to the program through the Medical Technology Corporate Partnership Program. Ideal students should have either an Associate's degree or at least 30 credit hours of transferable college credit.
