Process

Follow these steps:
  1. You will be placed by your teacher into groups of four.
  2. Each group member must take on one of the roles that is to be researched (banker, farmer, defendant, or President Roosevelt).  You may choose your own roles; however, if there is disagreement about who will research which role, then the teacher will assign roles randomly.
  3. Once you've selected or have been assigned one of the four roles, you are to research your role to prepare for your two to three page paper and oral report using only the websites listed in the Resources section of this webquest for your role.  When researching, you should be considering what you will use in your report and presentation.  What information is important?  What information really tells people what it was like to be me in the 1930s?
  4. Prepare your report.  As long as you use only the websites from the Resources page, you do not have to include a bibliography or works cited with your paper.  Your paper should be double-spaced.  Be sure to look at the rubric (found in the Evaluation (Rubic) section of this webquest) before your write your paper.
  5. Prepare your 4-6 minute presentation.  Your presentation must include at least one visual aid (Powerpoint, a poster, an artifact from the 1930s, etc.).  If you like, you may also dress up like the person whose role you are playing.  You will be allowed to use a total of five index cards (no more than five) during your presentation if you like.  Like the paper, be sure to look over the presentatio rubric found in the Evaluation (Rubric) section as you prepare your presentation.
  6. Your four-person group will present together, so get with your group to decide who will go first, second, third, and fourth.
  7. Schedule a time to present with your teacher.
