Welcome To SportVault's National Basketball Association Page!
Abstract
Since this league didn't begin until the late 1940s, the National Basketball Association was way behind the other professional leagues when it came to the race of becoming the most popular. However, over the years, inhuman talent, epic moments, and the enjoyment of the sport have really given it a boost (especially after the 1960s Civil Rights Movement). This league has really taken pride in the battle against racism, and has allowed many superstars to step into the spotlight because of this. Dreams have come true for millions of players and they really feel welcome to the NBA family, no matter what race they are from. Despite some battles and conflicts in the league, the NBA has grown stronger to this day, with many great commissioners that did a terrific job in keeping the league on the right foot. Also, when it comes to postseason drama, the fans turn to the NBA for an endless supply every spring.

The NBA Finals: Summer's Greatest Catalyst And Championship Event
Summer is always a great time of the year. School is out, the weather is warm, the pool is open, and the backyard BBQs are back in full swing. However, for NBA fans, the NBA Finals are what kicks their summer off with a bang. Since 1950, America has enjoyed the pure intensity of the hardwood on the NBA's biggest stage as the two best teams in the league square off head-to-head in a lengthy final series. The winner recieves the the Larry O' Brien trophy and the MVP of the series recieves an extra prize named after the great Bill Russell. When the drama of clutch moments combine with the heat and chillin' of the summertime, the NBA is the place to be.
Named after Mayor Larry O'Brien of Ottawa (far left), the NBA Finals trophy (middle left) is given to the championship team every year. The MVP award is also presented in honor of Boston Celtic legend Bill Russell, who has earned the title of having the award named after him. Lebron James recieved his 2nd straight Finals MVP award from Mr. Russell in the 2013 NBA Finals (middle right), which was one of the most crazy and intense series of all-time that was eventaully won by the Miami Heat over the San Antonio Spurs. Winning the championship of the hardwood is super special, especially if you had to wait a long period of time to do it. The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals in 2015, which earned them their first title since 1975 (far right). It was a 40 year wait, but they went down as one of the greatest teams in NBA history, winning over 75% of their total games.
