SIUE e-Plugs
The SIUE e-Plugs Mentorship Program will offer an opportunity for a one-on-one relationship created to enrich the mentees’ college preparation experience. Building mentor-to-mentee relationships is a valuable opportunity for a mentor to use their talent, knowledge, and ideas to make a difference in the mentee’s academic, social, and professional growth. This relationship will foster a compassionate environment that is open to honest communication, and the value of responsibility will be explored and enhanced. e-Plugs will serve as guides, networking resources, and coaches by reinforcing positive accomplishments. They will also provide mentees with encouragement and support to help them overcome obstacles during their college preparation efforts.
SIUE e-PLUGS will be experienced faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders, or dedicated students who not only demonstrate confident leadership in fulfilling the mission of SIUE, but also recognize the reciprocal benefits of mentoring pre-collegiate students. Mentors will be paired with students based on information obtained in the mentor interest form and mentor selection process. Each mentor-to-mentee(s) pair will be assigned to a member of the program staff who will serve as a facilitator and an additional layer of support for the success of this component of the program.
