Retention Programs Overview
We professionals in the Office of Retention and Student Success acknowledge the academic landscape can be peppered with countless obstacles and barriers. It is our role to assist students in successfully navigating such terrain. A few of our programming pieces include the following:
Retention Programs
Study Hall
Academic study tables are designated time and space for students to study with others. Success Coaches will be present to assist with any study skills, and effort will be made to help pair students with others studying the same material. Study hall will meet in SSC 1202 on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. To sign up for Study Hall, go to the Study Hall Service tile in your Starfish account.
EASE Program
The Edwardsville Academic Success Evaluation (EASE) is an initiative designed to help identify students who are need of academic assistance. Through the Starfish Retention platform, faculty members are encouraged to identify struggling students throughout the semester. Early notification is important to finding the right solutions to assist a student who is struggling in a course. Through the EASE process, faculty are able to provide information regarding the student’s current grades, attendance issues and any notes that will be beneficial for student follow-up.
The Office of Retention and Student Success will coordinate with academic advising units and other offices on-campus to follow up with students and aid them in determining the best actions to be successful.
Grade Recovery & Academic Sustainability Program (GRASP)
GRASP is a program created in collaboration with the University’s Learning Support Services. Students who have been identified as academically at-risk are required to enroll in AD 120 - Study Skills. During the semester, faculty guide students through a reflective piece of not only how one studies but also the reasoning for attending SIUE. The program has proven to serve as a success piece for students on academic probation!5th Week Assessment
