Academic Advisement for All Students
Whether you are a newly admitted freshman, a transfer student or a current SIUE student, the Office of First Year and Transitional Advising is here to assist you in planning your course of academic study.
New Freshmen
If you are a new freshman admitted for the fall semester, you will receive information about New Student Orientation, our mandatory orientation and registration program. During this program you will meet with an academic advisor who will work with you to identify the courses needed to start your college career off well.
Prior to the fall semester, an advisor will be assigned to you. Students will be assigned an advisor in either the Office of First Year and Transitional advising, SOAR, or athletics; please contact their respective offices for advising.

When you choose to transfer to SIUE, we want to help you adjust to your new university home as quickly as possible. We work to make the transfer process simple, so you can easily transition to a new plan of study. Once you have been admitted and your transcripts have been evaluated, please contact the Office of First Year and Transitional Advising at advising@siue.edu or 618-650-3701 to schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor to ensure a smooth transition.
