Welcome to the Leadership Development Program for SIUE Employees
Sponsored by Human Resources and the Vice Chancellor for Administration
Supervisors and managers are frequently promoted based on their job and technical skills, and often don't receive training on how to be a good manager and lead other people. In fact, all employees can benefit from developing their leadership skills.
The SIUE Leadership Development Program was developed by SIUE employees for SIUE employees.
Training is delivered through a series of modules (courses). You may take as many or as few modules as you want, with your supervisor's approval.
Each module meets in-person once per week for 90 minutes during regular working hours, usually for 3 weeks.
Benefits to you...
- FREE on-campus training
- Improve your skills
- Discuss problems with other talented people
- Become more promotable
We discuss questions such as...
Current/Future Leaders | All Employees | |
---|---|---|
How can I handle difficult employees? | How can I get along better with my boss? | |
When should I allow exceptions to policies? | How can I handle an intimidator? | |
How can I make meetings less a waste of time? | How can I stop procrastinating? | |
What's the best way to make decisions? | How can I get over my fear of public speaking? | |
When does supervision become micromanagement? |
How can I keep balance in my life? |
This is not a management theory class! The training is designed to be interactive, useful, practical, and fun.
