Celebrating 50 Years of Civil Engineering Excellence!
Friends of the SIUE Department of Civil Engineering are invited to enjoy entertainment, lunch and open bar while we share our memories and accomplishments of the past 50 years. Guests will reunite with faculty and fellow alumni, hear from a keynote speaker, local ASCE leaders and other distinguished industry professionals while networking with student organizations and industry peers. Tours of the Engineering Building will be available after the event for those who would like them.

Keynote Speaker
We are excited to welcome Marsia Geldert Murphey as our anniversary’s keynote speaker. Mrs. Geldert Murphey is Regional Director of Lochmueller Group and President-Elect of ASCE. Her address will focus on “Civil Engineering 50 Years in the Future” where she will feature ASCE’s (American Society of Civil Engineers) Future World Vision project. This project is the creation of five holistic, multi-dimensional worlds that brings to life the future of civil engineering through compelling narratives and evocative designs that can be explored and analyzed through interactive digital environments. It is a view of the future in which civil engineers lead the way.
Following Marsia’s presentation about 50 years in the future, we will reminisce about 50 years in the past, when we hear from a panel of 5 alumni who will share memories from their SIUE Civil Engineering experience.
Give to the Student Scholarship Fund
Students have always been the focus of our endeavors. We are honoring our 50th anniversary with a goal to raise $50,000 in scholarship funds for Civil Engineering students. Last year we received 40 undergraduate student scholarship applications in our Department and 13 of those students received awards. We endeavor to support more of these student requests. Easing their financial burdens will allow them more time for their studies and finishing their degrees.
With your event sponsorship or scholarship donation, we can be a Department that makes awards to all of our scholarship applicants. We believe this will set the stage for other departments in the School of Engineering and benefit all future generations of SIUE engineering students.
