Cross-Cultural Teaching Experience

ACS 511 Seminar in Intercultural Communication includes discussions of case studies related to different cultural contexts as well as online exchanges between students enrolled in the course and international communication practitioners in various countries of the world.
ACS 419: Special Topics in Speech Communication – International Public Relations at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a study abroad experience. During Summer semester 2012 I took 12 U.S. students to Lyon, France and Bucharest, Romania, and during Summer semester 2014 I took 9 students to Munich, Germany and Budapest, Hungary. In these study abroad trips, students have professional and cultural exchanges with faculty from local universities and with public relations practitioners from local firms. In Munich, Germany, the students also had the opportunity to contribute their public relations skills to the 50th edition of the children’s film festival Prix Jeunesse International.
