Term with labels
The term 3x2 is listed in the picture above. Notice the different parts of the term which are labeled. A coefficient is a number that is used to multiply a variable. A variable is a symbol for a number that we don't know. An exponent (also called a power) is a number that tells us how how many times we are multiplying that number or variable.
