Why are there Multiple options?
You may want to apply to multiple schools. You can use these larger systems such as common app to apply to many different colleges without having to go to each school's individual site. If you only want to apply to 1-3, I would reccomend going to the college's or university's application directly.
Common App:
Common App is a database of many colleges that have joined together to make it easier for students to apply to multiple colleges with one application. It will save your basic information and make the process less time consuming.

Institutions' Applications:
All Higher Education Institutions have their own applications. These are sometimes the best way to apply. Majority of University, Colleges, Community Colleges, and trade schools will have you apply online.
If you do want a paper or traditional applications, you may have to physically go to that institution, attend a college or career fair, or hunt through their website.
