PAST
I was born and raised in central Illinois. While in high school I rooted myself in political involvement and community service. In my last year of high school I moved to Springfield, Illinois to do an internship and learned how to become moderately independent. After high school I attended Illinois Central College where I obtained my associate degree with a primary focus on communication/ public relations. While at ICC I partook in an internship in which I helped organize the National Junior College Athletic Association's national women's basketball tournament. To find out more about this and any of my other internships feel free to browse my employment & internship history page.
PRESENT
After ICC I moved down to Edwardsville, Illinois to attend Southern Illinois University where I am currently in the process of getting a speech communication degree. Since starting at SIUE I have been a member of Public Relations Student Society of America- SIUE chapter and also a member of Eta Sigma Gamma- Health Education Fraternity. PRSSA has given me the opportunity to grow in my public relations and knowledge and ESG has helped me become more involved in community service. In fall of 2011 I did an internship for SIUE Alumni Affairs. I have held an array of jobs throughout my college career and am currently seeking out jobs in the field of communications for after I graduate. I enjoy spending time with my two nieces and two nephews when I can. I also like to cook, watch seasons of television shows, watch movies, and craft (although I am horrible at it). I also enjoy traveling and hope to do more of it in the future. I have a great boyfriend, two awesome sisters, and a wonderful grandpa and grandma that I love hearing stories from. I am an optimistic person who enjoys spontaneity and excitement.
FUTURE
I am currently deciding what comes next for me. I am looking for jobs in the San Diego area and plan to move there with my boyfriend if a desirable one presents itself. I am also applying to graduate schools and am waiting for a sign of what my next step will be. I plan on being married in the next few years and having kids within the next 10. I am open to leaving the state of Illinois, but am also comfortable with staying. Hopefully my drive and dedication will pay off and I will find many more opportunities in life that make me truly happy.
