How did Kim and Jake fall in love? Well, this page is going to answer that question. Below are significant milestones in our relationship. | |
---|---|
October 12, 2019: This was the date Jake and I met for the first time. My sister, Mary, invited me to a karaoke bar to celebrate one of her coworker’s birthday. While there, I listened to a rendition of “Kiss From a Rose” by Seal. Little did I know, this singer would eventually be my husband. We spent the rest of the night talking about anything and everything and decided to exchange numbers. | |
November 25, 2019: Even though Jake and I exchanged numbers, it wasn’t until over a month later that we went on our first official date. At this time I was still living at home with my parents. Jake drove to my parent’s house to pick me up. I still remember stepping into his car, feeling extremely awkward, but impressed when the song “The High Road” by Broken Bells played from his Spotify. On our first date, we went to a restaurant in Peoria called Obed and Isaac’s. After dinner I met some of his friends for drinks and we eventually invited my sister and brother-in-law to also join us. | |
December 3, 2019:After our first date, we were pretty inseparable. On December 3, HerInteractive released this new game after a four-year hiatus (so it was a big deal!). Jake knew my love for Nancy Drew games and bought the game on his PC so that we could play it together. This was one of the moments that I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. | |
December 21, 2019: Since we had been spending so much time together, I decided things were serious enough to introduce him to my friends from Omaha, Nebraska. My Omaha friends were having a Christmas party and I invited Jake to take the six-hour drive with me. This was our first road trip together. | |
March 2020: This month is when the “stay at home” order for Illinois was in effect. Even though Jake and I had only been dating for a few months, we were quarantining together and I slowly just moved in with him. | |
October 30, 2020: Jake, Jake’s friend, and I all moved into a house together. Jake and I were officially living together now- meaning I actually had all my clothes (and took over the closet and bathroom). |
|
November 1, 2020: Since Jake and I were living together, we also decided it was time to get our first pet. We got our kitten, Mooch, from a friend. Mooch was a barn kitty that was abandoned by her mother- we were lucky enough to bring her home! |
|
June 2021: During this time, Jake and I went on vacation to New Orleans with my family. This was our first real vacation together and where we fell in love with New Orleans. We were able to immerse ourselves in the rich culture New Orleans has, which is what sparked our interest in getting married there! | |
November 25, 2022: This was Jake and I’s three-year anniversary of our first date. He took me to a nice restaurant for dinner and then to Tower Park afterward. At Tower Park, Jake got down on one knee and proposed to me. Jake revealed this wasn’t his original proposal plan- but I had basketball practice and didn’t tell him so he changed his plans last second (oops!). | |
January 13, 2023: As much as we loved living with Jake’s friend, we knew it was time to get a house of our own. After looking at houses for many months, we finally found the perfect home for us. January 13, 2023, was the date that we closed on our first home. This milestone was exciting (and a bit scary) for us both. |
