Getting Your Script Read....

"Getting your script read by industry professionals is the single hardest part of the script writing process," says independent film producer Kyle Downs. Every day thousands of aspiring actors, directors and writers flood the streets of Hollywood with the dream of making it big. The key for landing any job in film is to start small and ensure you make a strong impression. Your reputation is everything in the film industry and you need to make sure that it is a good one!

Downs' best advice for script writers with no real experience, "enter into some of the festival contests out there for scripts. Do Some research online and you'll come across some contests worth entering where distributors and producers have their eyes on it." There are hundreds of state and national script writing contests across the country for amatures and professionals alike, don't be afraid to enter your script into as many as possible! Do your research online as well. With the internet today there are tons of websites dedicated to helping screenwriters not only enhance their work, but also get it read. Websites like Reddit Screenwriters or Blcklst.com are great places to start, just always, always, ALWAYS copyright your finished material before you start sending it out!
