Hello Jim, Looking at your web page, I noticed that you are connected to the Andris from Belgium and I succeeded to connect your branch to the family. I must tell you that I'm preparing with one of my friends a "Contribution à une généalogie ANDRES" in French and that I have also ANDRES in my ancestors. Our publication will be ready end first quarter 2001 with the agreement of the family ANDRIS in Belgium. The ANDRIS family - glassworkers up to the years 1900- starts in Italy, than they moved to Germany (region of Allgau) and from there (begin 1700) emigrated to east of France and finally fixed themselves in Belgium, in Charleroi, always as glassworkers. These industrial activities decreased rapidely before 1900 and some glassworkers emigrated to USA. That's the case of yout branch. Shortly, here are your ANDRES ancestors, for what I know : Jean ANDRES ° ca 1655 X ca 1674 Marie FALLER Jean Joseph ANDRES ° 28 Oct 1681 Rohrdorf (Allgau) X 5 Aug 1703 Klosterwaldt (Walbertsweiler) Ursula HOCQUEMILLER ° Wigginsbach (Allgau) Jean ANDRIS ° 23 Feb 1712 Zwiefalten (D) X Marie ENGELHARDT Jean ANDRIS ° Sint Ingbert (Sarreland) X 13 Nov 1767 Charleroi Marie Barbe DESGUIN Louis Joseph ANDRES ° 26 Nov 1772 Monthermé (France) X 11 Feb 1797 Charleroi Marie Joseph BRASSEUR ° 6 Feb 1776 Charleroi Nicolas ANDRISSE ° 24 Dec 1815 Charleroi X 16 Jul 1846 Jumet Hortense DANDOIS (or DANDOY) ° 8 Oct 1820 Jumet Arthur ANDRIS, ° 18 Nov 1845 Jumet (born before his parents' marriage) X 18 jul 1870 Binche Louise LEBRUN ° 11 Jan 1851 Binche Arthur Louis Nicolas ANDRIS, ° 05 Apr 1873 Binche X Victorine DORVAL The name originnaly was spelled ANDREIS, than ANDRES in Germany and also when they arrived in Belgium, but later the name was altered in ANDRIS(SE). I hope you will enjoy the information. Merry Christmas to you and a happy new year. André DARQUENNES Avenue du Sagittaire, 17 1410 Waterloo (B) |
