| | Goal 3Demonstrates critial, reflective, and metacognitive thinkingIT 471After
creating the lesson that my mentor teacher asked me to create, I
reflected on what changes I could make to increase the effectiveness.
The lesson required students to use the internet to look up
information on the two plans of government that were proposed at the
Constitutional Convention: the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan.
My mentor teacher suggested this because she felt like the class
textbook gave a too brief summary of both plans. The problem with
the lesson, as I implemented it, was that students were also looking up
brief summaries on the internet as well.To
try to counteract this, I tried to find something more substaintial for
the students to gather information from. I did some research and
found two government websites that had either a print of the original
document or a transcription of the document for both of the plans of
government. I decided that I would require the students to find
these two documents and read them to discern information about the two
plans of government. This would incorporate reading comprehension
and analytic thinking skills that would meet the standards by the
Common Core initiative.IT 486When
I learned that our assignment for IT 486, I immediately new that I
wanted to create a websitre that my basketball team could use.
Specifically, I wanted to create a website that our players could
use to learn the scouting report of our next opponent. My
original plan was toput some diagrams of plays, as well as information about the opposing players on the website for our team to read. After
learning about generative strategies, I decided that my players needed
to generate some ideas on their own. To do this, I created a
message board where players had to post their own thoughts that met
certain criteria. Each of the responses by the players would
require them to think critically and understand the principals of our
offensive and defensive philospohies.
