American Community Survey
The purpose of this site is to provide detailed economic social
and housing data for states and communities between decennial censuses. American Fact Finder is a U.S. Census Bureau data access system that provides facts and information about the community, economy, and society of the United States. The system will search the information from some of the Census Bureau’s largest data sets. The site allows users to : find quick facts; view detailed tables; build customized data tables; and view geographic and thematic maps. Special data products include community profiles (census data for states, counties, cities, congressional districts, urbanized areas) and industry and business facts. Census CD and
Maps This program to allows users to customize a census search down to block and tract level. Most data is from 1990 census, but the program also includes some historical data. A mapping program to produce a map of the search done is also included. This program is available only on the terminals located in the Reference Area of Lovejoy Library. CenStats is a U.S. Census Bureau service that provides access to the following databases: County Business Patterns; USA Counties; Annual Survey of Manufacturers; ZIP Business Patterns; Census Tract/Street Index; Building Permits; U.S. Merchandise Trade: Exports, General Imports, and Imports for Consumption; and Occupation by Sex, Race and Hispanic Origins. County and City Data Books: 1988 and 1994 The County and City Data book consists of statistical information on states, counties, cities, and places in the United States. This version allows you to choose cities/counties/states, then choose data variables, and then view or download the retrieved data. Over 70 agencies of the United States federal government produce statistics. The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy site provides easy access to the full range of statistics produced by these agencies. FedStats allows users to: connect to statistics by subject, using an A to Z index; by searching by keyword; connecting to statistics-producing agencies by agency name; and connect to statistics-producing agencies by broad subject category. State and Metropolitan Area Data Book The Data Book contains a collection of statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States at the state and metropolitan area levels. Selected data for component counties and cities of metropolitan areas are also included. The Data Book is presented as a PDF file although some files are available in html format. The U.S. Census Bureau site provides in depth coverage of statistical information about the population and the economy of the United States. Included in the site are: Subjects A-Z, a program that allows users to connect to Census data by subject; Access Tools connects to data access tools developed and/or provided by the Census Bureau to extract and display on-line Census information; and Current Economic Indicators connects to recent releases of United States economic indicators. Census Data Lookup allows users to retrieve demographic and social characteristics data for 1990 summary tape files 1A, 1C, 3B, 3A, and 3C for states, counties, places, metropolitan areas, and urbanized areas. Note that not all tables and geographic sets are available from summary tape files 1C and 3C. Data Browser, 1790-1970 The data provided describes the people and economy of the United States for each state and county from 1790 until1970.The sources for the data set include US Decennial Census and other information provided the US Department of Agriculture, and the National Council of Churches of the United States. STATE This
database contains information on income, health, child well-being,
demographic, fiscal, political, and social services data for all 50 states
plus the District of Columbia. The database is downloadable using Microsoft
Access.
EconData.NET is a guide to regional economic activity
and contains 400 links to social economic data sources that are arranged by subject
