MY MOTHER'S SIDE
OF THE FAMILY
*Bonnie June Bean (maiden name Rodriguez), my grandmother, was born on
February 17, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the mother of
Tammy Wiesemeyer. She has two daughters and three
grandchildren. Bonnie has lived near or in the Troy, IL area
all of her life and currently lives there now. She got married
the day after she turned 18
years old to Raymond Bean, my grandfather, on February 18, 1960.
Bonnie was a beautician for almost 20 years and still does work for
Kassly's Funeral Home. She was then a professional babysitter
for almost 20 years and watched and helped raise many children,
including myself. She currently works at Anderson Hospital in the
cashiering department. Bonnie is a loving, wife, mother, and
grandmother and is one of the most generous people you will ever
meet. She is a HUGE St. Louis Cardinal's fan and rarely ever
misses watching a game and loves country music. She also still
plays on a softball league during the summer.
*Raymond Willard Bean, my grandfather, was born on July 31, 1940 in
St. Claire County, Illinois. He is the father of Tammy
Wiesemeyer. He has two daughters and three grandchildren.
Raymond has lived near or in the Troy, IL area all of his life and
currently lives there now.
He got married when he was 19, almost 20 years old to Bonnie Bean
(Rodriguez), my grandmother on February 18, 1960. Raymond has
done many different jobs throughout his life, including working for
Illinois Electric Company, selling insurance, and selling real
estate. He currently sells real estate. He is a HUGE

*Emmabelle Rodriguez (maiden name Cook), my great-grandmother, was born
on September 19, 1924 in Ruby, Wisconsin. She is the mother of
Bonnie Bean. She has 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 4
great-grandchildren. She was born in Wisconsin, but moved to
Illinois at an early age and has lived in Illinois ever since.
Emmabelle married Joseph Rodriguez, my great grandfather, in 1947 and
they are still happily married today ans currently live in Fairmont
City, Illinois. Emmabelle was a beautician for most of her life,
and still does work today for Kassly's Funeral Home. She is a
very caring person and loves being around her family. She is also
the only person I know that is on the smaller side in stature, but eats
more than anyone else at family gatherings.
*Joseph Rodriguez, my great-grandfather, was born on June 5, 1923 in
Fairmont City, Illinois. He is the father of Bonnie Bean.
He has three daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 4
great-grandchildren. He has lived in Fairmont City, Illinois his
entire life. When he was younger, he was a great soccer player
and played for a semi-professional team for a number of years. He
then joined the Army of the United States on May 25, 1943 during WW II
and left as a private in October 23, 1945 (U.S WW II Army Enlistment

*Helen
Louise Bean (maiden name Rodgers), my great-grandmother, was born July
23, 1914 in Shawnee town, Illinois. She married William Frederick
Bean, my great-grandfather, sometime in the 1930's. She is the
mother of Raymond Bean and had two other sons. She lived in
Shawnee town, Illinois for most of her childhood and eventually moved
to
French Village, Illinois at 1716 Sycamore Street where she was a
homemaker all of her life (B. J. Bean, personal interview, April 3,
2009). Towards the end of her life, she lived with her daughter
and son-in-law, Bonnie and Raymond Bean. She enjoyed reading
books to all of the children that Bonnie watched, including myself, and
was a very loving person. She died on January 27, 1999.
*William Frederick Bean, my great-grandfather, was born on July 28,
1910 in Kentucky. He married Helen Louise Bean (Rodgers), my
great-grandmother, sometime in the 1930's. He is the father of
Raymond Bean and had two other sons. He moved to Illinois as a
younger man and lived in French Village, Illinois most of his life, but
passed away while living in Highland, Illinois many years later.
William was a coal miner for many years and then became a chemical
engineer at General Chemical where he eventually retired (B. J., Bean,
personal interview, April 3, 2009). He was liked by all who knew
him and died on August 11, 1981.

*Margaret Cook (maiden name
unknown), my great-great-grandmother, was
born around 1897 in Illinois where she lived all of her life. (U.S.
Federal Census, 1920). She married Jesse D. Cook sometime in her
late teens. She is the mother of Emmabelle Rodriguez (Cook) and
had 5 other children. She was a house maker and lived in
Sangamon,
Illinois for most of her life and was fairly well-educated for a woman
during this time period in Illinois (B. J. Bean, personal interview,
April 3, 2009). The exact date and year of her death is unknown,
but she did die sometime before 1977. I researched on
ancestry.com, looked in various databases, interviewed my
great-grandmother and my great-aunts, but I was unable to find and no
one can seem to remember her maiden name and who her parents were.
*Jesse D. Cook, my great-great-grandfather, was born on April 12, 1894
in Illinois, where he lived all of his life. He married Margaret
Cook in his late teens-early twenties. He is the father of
Emmabelle Rodriguez (Cook) and 5 other children. He was a track
laborer for the railroad all of his life (Certificate of Death, Bonnie
Bean, 2009). Near the end of his life, he lived in East St.
Louis, Illinois and died on December 29, 1977. He was loved by
all and id lovingly referred to as "Fishing Grandpa" because he loved
to take his grandchildren fishing.

*Amanda Rodriguez (maiden name
Valdez), my great-great-grandmother, was
born around 1900 in Austurias, Spain (U.S. Federal Census, 1930).
She married Francisco (Frank) Rodriguez, my great-great-grandfather
while still in Spain. She is the mother of Joseph Rodriguez and
five other children. She was a homemaker and immigrated to East
St. Louis, Illinois and then to Fairmont City, Illinois sometime before
1917. Her marriage and death dates are unknown, but she was
married by 1917 and she died in Illinois. This may be because she
was originally born in Spain. I searched in various databases and
found no information on her death. I also asked her son, Joseph
Rodriguez but he does not remember when she died, but she was killed by
a hit and run driver (B. J.
Bean, personal interview, April 3, 2009). I could also obtain no information on
her parents, probably because they lived and died in Spain.
*Francisco (Frank) Rodriguez, my great-great-grandfather, was born May
15, 1896 in Austurias, Spain (WW I Draft Registration Cards,
1917-1918). He married Amanda Rodriguez (Valdez), my
great-great-grandmother while still in Spain sometime before
1917. He is the father of Joseph Rodriguez and 5 other
children. Frank immigrated to East St. Louis, Illinois from Spain
sometime before 1917 and later lived in Fairmont City, Illinois.
He joined the U.S. Army on June 5, 1917 during WW I while living in
East St. Louis, Illinois (WW I Draft Registration Cards,
1917-1918). He did die in Illinois, but his exact death date is
unknown. This may be
because he was
originally born in Spain. I searched in various databases and
asked his son Joseph, but his death date is unknown, but he did die in
Illinois in 1942 when he was killed in a car accident (B. J. Bean,
personal interview, April 3, 2009). I could also obtain no information on
his parents, probably because they lived and died in Spain. I do
not know this to be a fact, but I believed he went by Frank rather than
Francisco to try and assimilate to American culture.

interview, April 3, 2009). He lived in Shawnee town, Illinois for
most of his life but eventually moved to Washington Park and the East
St. Louis, Illinois area. Edward had several occupations
throughout his life. His first major job was running the only
restaurant in Shawnee town, Illinois for many years, then running a
farm in Oakaville, Illinois, and eventually he worked at General
Chemical as a night watchman where he retired. He died on June
29, 1937 and is buried along Lula Rodgers at Mt. Hope Cemetery in
