MY FATHER'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY


*Stella Mae Wiesemeyer (maiden name Howard), my grandmother, was born on September 11, 1921 in Collinsville, Illinois and is one of three triplets.  She is the mother of Randy Wiesemeyer and five other children and had twelve grandchildren.  She married Russell J. Wiesemeyer, my grandfather, in 1942.  Stella lived near or in Troy, Illinois her entire life.  She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved to watch television and always had candy for her grandchildren.  She died in 2002 and is buried in Troy, Illinois.

*Russell J. Wiesemeyer, my grandfather, was born on June 21, 1920 in St. Jacob, Illinois, but he lived in Troy, Illinois for most of his life.  He is the father of Randy Wiesemeyer and five other children and had twelve grandchildren.  He married Stella M. Wiesemeyer (Howard), my grandmother, in 1942.  He was a WW II Veteran and ran his own gas station and car wash in Troy, Illinois almost his entire adult life, which he then passed on to two of his sons.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was a very well known, respected member of the Troy, Illinois community.  He was a member of the Troy Lions club, a volunteer fireman, and was a part of many other organizations, but he his mostly know for his contribution to the Troy Park.  Russell was a member of the Jarvis Township Board of Trustees form 1972-2000, and the senior citizen's center in Troy Park was renamed in his honor and was changed to the "Wiesemeyer Center" and it is still that way today (
Troy, Illinois Historical Society, 2003).  He died on April 26, 2000 of a long battle with heart disease, and is buried in Troy, Illinois.

*Mary Howard (maiden name unknown), my great-grandmother, was born around 1885 in Germany (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1930).  She was the mother of Stella Wiesemeyer (Howard) and had six other children.  Mary married Henry Howard, my great-grandfather, and she resided in Collinsville, Illinois for the majority of her life.  She was a homemaker.  Mary Howard's death date is unknown.  No other information could be found in any databases or interviews, including when she emigrated form Germany or the names of her parents.  She died at a fairly early age, and none of her grandchildren recall when she died, but she is buried in Illinois (R. G., Wiesemeyer, personal interview, April 4, 2009).

*Henry Howard, my great-grandfather, was born around 1882 in Illinois
(Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1930).  He was the father of Stella Wiesemeyer (Howard) and had six other children.  Henry married Mary Howard, my great-grandmother, and resided in Collinsville, Illinois for the majority of his life.  He was a maintenance man for street cars (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1930).  Henry Howard's death is unknown.  No other information could be found in any databases or interviews.  He is buried in Illinois and died at an early age, but no one I talked to could remember when he died, or knew the names of his parents.

*Barbara Wiesemeyer (maiden name Petry), my great-grandmother, was born in March of 1888 in St. Jacob, Illinois (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  She was the mother of Russell J. Wiesemeyer and had 12 other children.  She was married to Albert Wiesemeyer, my great-grandfather, and she resided in various places in Madison County, Illinois for her entire life. 
She was a homemaker.  She was a member of The "Hearts" Travel Club in the 1940s and 1950s and this club of women only would get together to celebrate each other's birthdays where they would always play the game of Hearts (Troy, Illinois Historical Society, 2003).  Barbara's death date is unknown.  No other information could be found in any databases or interviews.  None of her grandchildren recall when she died, but she is buried in Illinois (R. G., Wiesemeyer, personal interview, April 4, 2009).  

*Albert Wiesemeyer, my great-grandfather, was born about 1890 in Illinois (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1930).  He was the father of Russell J. Wiesemeyer and had twelve other children.  He was married to Barbara Wiesemeyer(Petry), my great-grandmother, and he resided in Illinois his entire life.  He was a farmer for the majority of his life (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1930).  Albert's death date is unknown. 
No other information could be found in any databases or interviews.  None of his grandchildren recall when he died, but he is buried in Illinois (R. G., Wiesemeyer, personal interview, April 4, 2009).

*Mary Petry (maiden name unknown), my great-great grandmother, was born in October 1860 in Illinois (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  She was the mother of Barbara Wiesemeyer (Petry) and was married to Adam Petry, my great-great-grandfather, in 1880 (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  She was a homemaker.  Her death date is unknown.  No other information could be obtained from databases or interviews about her or her parents.This could be because her parents were from Germany.

*Adam Petry, my great-great-grandfather, was born in November 1850 in Germany (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  He emigrate from Germany in 1864 (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  He was the father of Barbara Wiesemeyer(Petry) an was married to Mary Petry, my great-great-grandmother, in 1880 and he was a farmer (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1900).  His death date is unknown.  No other information could be obtained form databases or interviews about him or his parents.  This could be because he and his parents are from Germany.

*Maria Wieseineger, translated into Wiesemeyer (maiden name unknown), was born about 1850 in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1857 (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1910).  She is the mother of Albert Wiesemeyer and at least two other children.  She was married to Leonard Wiesemeyer, my great-great-grandfather, after immigrating.  Her death date is unknown.  No other information can be found on her or her parents in any of the databases or interviews.  This may be because she was born in Germany. 

*Leonard Wieseineger, translated into Wiesemeyer, was born about 1843 in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1854 (Ancestry.com, U.S. Federal Census, 1910).  He is the father of Albert Wiesemeyer and had at least two other children.  He was married to Maria Wieseineger (translated into Wiesemeyer), my great-great-grandmother, after immigrating.  His death date is unknown.  No other information can be found on him or his parents through any databases or interviews.  This may be because he was born in Germany.
