One of the organizations that I am currently apart of if the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Iota Chapter. This illustrious organiation was found January 15th, 1908 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. by 20 lovely ladies. The initial idea of the sorority was created by Ms. Ethel Hedgeman Lyle during her junior year. Ms. Lyle was inspired by her husband George Lyle. George Lyle was one of the charter members of the Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., which is the first black greek letter organization founded in 1906. Alpha Kappa Alpha has been serving the community for over a century having just celebrated it's centinnial anniversary in 2008.
