Effects of Social Media

Social Media has massively affected the world in just a short period of time. Social Media has taken over news outlets and made the world a significantly smaller place.

News Outlets

News outlets around the world have began to aggressively embrace Social Media. Media outlets have used Social Media to race to get the news out the fastest. News outlets compete to see who can tweet the story the fastest to people around the world.

Problems

In the race to get the news out the fastest, sometimes fact checking is overlooked and the wrong facts are posted for the world to see. This happens a lot with breaking news when news outlets are trying to be the first to publish the story, the posts might have facts wrong.

Corporations

News outlets are not the only ones joining the social media craze. Corporations have used social media in order to post jobs, give updates, and discounts to the people that follow or like their page. The corporations do this to keep the name of their company in the mind of consumers everywhere.

Students

Students are possibly the most aggressive social media users because of all of the ways they use social media to their advantage. Students not only use it to communicate with friends all around the world, students also use social media to network into the field they plan to enter after college. Students find corporations and people they would like to work for and follow them through social media, looking for updates on the company and any potential jobs that may open for them in the future.
