Student-Run Radio
SIUE Web Radio is a student volunteer-run radio station with studios on the lower level of the Morris University Center next to Textbook Service. Web Radio is operated by SIUE under the supervision of faculty advisers and graduate assistants. Pulling an all-nighter? Web Radio's there … 24/7 with non-stop music and talk.
Web Radio's mission is to inform, entertain and teach while offering an eclectic mix of music and talk programs created by SIUE students. With all the tools and equipment you see at an AM/FM radio station, students receive hands-on learning with their own time slot of music and/or talk programming.
Our History
SIUE Web Radio signed on to the internet airwaves in March 2003. The project to give students an alternative for hands-on experience was spearheaded by graduate student Lisa Herman. Once under the management of WSIE 88.7 FM, Web Radio now partners with SIUE's Department of Mass Communications and The Alestle, SIUE's student-run news organization. The organization has picked up quite a bit of momentum in recent years by installing new studio equipment, implementing a new branding and marketing strategy, and establishing itself as a staple in the campus community.
This school year brings more exciting developments in streaming capabilities, campus events and a whole new roster of DJs to love.
