Cadet Recreational Activities
In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas. Learn more about these events and activities by browsing the links on this page.
Color Guard
The Cougar BN Color Guard presents the National Colors prior to events. The Color Guard has presented the Colors prior to the St. Louis Rams games, St. Louis Cardinals games, NHRA Drag Racing, SIUE commencement, and have supported numerous parades in the Edwardsville area such as the Veteran’s Day parade.
The annual Edwardsville Veteran's Day parade is co-sponsored by the Edwardsville VFW and the American Legion to honor local veterans. Parade participants include a color guard, all divisions of the military, school and community groups, and numerous floats and bands.
Ranger Challenge
The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.
Events include but are not limited to timed obstacle courses, casualty evacuation courses, weapons assembly/disassembly, and crossing a one-rope bridge.
Cadet Club
Cadet Club has a mission to support our Cadets. They do various fundraisers throughout the semester in order to help pay for different events such as paintballing, military ball, intramural sports and pizza parties. You can become part of Cadet Club by joining Army ROTC.
