Started at SIUE:
I began my journey as a cougar in Fall of 2017, where I would go on to earn my Bachelors and Master’s degree(s). SIUE is home. I am so glad that I get to work for my Alma Mater and engage with students who get to experience life on this campus!
Education:
BA, English - SIUE
MS Ed, College Student Personnel Administration- SIUE
Areas of Interest in degree:
Toxic Masculinity in Fraternity Culture; White Immunity/White Fragility; Career and Postsecondary Readiness
Favorite Movie: The Princess Bride
Favorite thing at SIUE: I met my wife while we were students our first year on campus! During my time as a Graduate and Undergraduate here, I spent more time here than my own home. I love everything about the University!
Why do you do what you do?: I have had some transformative people in Higher Education showcase what it means to not only do the job, but to do it right. These people approach education with a culture of care, an inquisitive mind, and a penchant for challenging the status quo. These are the 3 things that I exemplify every day and am grateful to contribute to the field. Not only am I accepted for these notions, but I am appreciated and valued more for having them. I do what I do because I believe that students at SIUE deserve to have someone who supports them unconditionally in their success!
Favorite quote: “One ought to be afraid of nothing other than things possessed of power to do us harm, but things innocuous need not be feared.” ― Dante Alighieri, Inferno
What I do in my free time: My free time is mostly spent trying to convince my wife that it is time for another Disney vacation. When we aren’t on said vacation (it is the ONLY way to vacation) we are cheering on the Blues and Cardinals. As a former theatre kid, my time on stage is over but that won’t stop me from catching a show at the Fox, the Muny, or (conveniently) right here on campus!
