Professional Background
How long have you been doing what you do?
I have been an academic advisor since May of 2018.
How long have you been at SIUE?
I have been an employee at SIUE since 2012.
How did you get here?
My mother was a student at SIUE in the 1970’s. I always enjoyed visiting the campus as a child. I spent time at SIUE for competitions and workshops as a high school student and brought students to SIUE for the Bi-State Music Festival as a music teacher. I also attended teacher conferences, as well as theater and dance performances on campus, over the years.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
The thing that keeps me motivated is knowing that I am helping someone else meet their personal and educational goals. I love helping students work through challenges to set and reach their goals.
What do you love most about working at SIUE?
I love the people at SIUE! I love the diversity and the shared desire for continued growth and improvement.
What are your primary duties in your current position?
I meet with students for advising appointments and help them plan course work, to complete their education goals. I also serve as a resource for my students when they encounter challenges and need additional help or encouragement.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
My husband and I enjoy taking rides on his Harley when the weather is nice and spending time with our kids. We enjoy cooking out with friends and family. I love to travel and visit Disney World every change I get!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Staunton, IL
Any non-profits you love?
I play the French horn in the Heritage Community Band during the summer. I have a great group of friends there and enjoy the opportunity to continue performing with a musical ensemble.
I also enjoy volunteering with different fundraising events at my son’s high school.

Anything else you'd like to tell people about yourself?
I have had experience in many careers and have been a non-traditional, transfer student in higher education. I believe my experiences and education enable me to understand students and their unique situations, which allows me to provide them with the information and support they need to be successful at SIUE.
