How long have you been doing what you do?
I have been working in higher education since 1993, working at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, University of Cincinnati, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I have been working as an academic advisor in SIUE's Office of Academic Advising since August 2016.
How long have you been at SIUE?
I have been at SIUE since 2002 working at the Illinois Education Research Council as an education policy researcher. In August 2016, I transitioned into academic affairs and started as an academic advisor in the Office of Academic Advising.
How did you get here?
I started as an evaluator in K-12 education settings and then became an education policy researcher in settings ranging from preschool to higher education. After 14 years in policy research, I decided to make a career change to a more hands-on career helping students achieve their academic goals in higher education.
What are you known for professionally? What do you have a knack for?
I have strong organizational skills and like working with details. I also enjoy interacting with new people. I will always love research and learning new things.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
I strongly believe that education after high school should be available to all students who want it. I view my role as an academic advisor as guiding students to achieve their full academic and personal potential during their collegiate experience.
What do you love most about working at SIUE?
I love that SIUE is a great university that serves students in our region of the country, as well as across the country and internationally.

What are your primary duties in your current position?
Academic advising to undergradate students who have not yet declared their major.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?
When I’m not at work, I’m usually with my family or extended family enjoying a music or sporting event or relaxing at home with a movie or card game.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Highland, Illinois and grew up in this region of the state.
