SIUE Tops Illinois Public Institutions in Graduation Success Rates
SIUE is once again Illinois’ top public institution in graduating student-athletes and is tied for second nationally among public schools, according to the Graduation Success Report published Wednesday by the NCAA.
Seven SIUE programs earned a perfect score of 100 in the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) figures, with baseball, golf, men’s cross country/track, women’s soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball each earning a perfect score.
The GSR for SIUE student-athletes in the 2014-2017 cohort is 96 overall.
“SIUE Athletics is proud of our track record and history with strong metrics in GSR,” SIUE Director of Athletics Andrew Gavins said. “It is our expectation to be recognized as a leader nationally, but this year’s rankings display an even higher standard of excellence. Our current and former student-athletes continue to amaze and inspire us with their commitment to academic and athletic success.”
SIUE is tied for second among all public institutions and tied for 41st among all schools, public or private. Only Vermont has a higher GSR (98) score among public institutions.
“It is important to recognize the collective efforts of so many whose hard work helps foster this success,” Gavin added. “I am extremely grateful to our student-athlete success staff, under the leadership of Deputy AD Jaci Declue. I also applaud our coaches that prioritize and encourage the academic experience of our student-athletes. Finally, on behalf of SIUE Athletics, I thank our faculty and staff partners on campus who support our student-athletes.”
