Roland Martin Gives SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School National Spotlight during Interview with Dr. Jeffries
Gina Jeffries, EdD, SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School (CHS) director, explained the CHS mission and highlighted the successes of students and staff during a YouTube news interview on “#Roland Martin Unfiltered, Daily Digital Show.”
“This school has been in existence since 1999. We are somewhat of a hidden gem in East St. Louis, and it is a blessing to walk through these hallways each and every day,” said Jeffries. “We are sponsored by SIUE and have a partnership where our oversight comes directly from the School of Education, Health and Huma Behavior (SEHHB) headed by our first Black female rock star dean, Dr. Robin Hughes. I’m also extremely excited about a new partnership that we have to get more of our scholars to the SIUE campus called GEMs, which stands for Gentlemen Entering Manhood. It is specifically designed to mentor Black male scholars to seek educational endeavors and is instructed by SEHHB professor Dr. Nate Williams and CHS team member Greg Laktzian.”
