SIUE Tabbed a Top 5 Research University on BizJournal List
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville ranks among the top 5 research universities in Missouri and Southern Illinois, according to the St. Louis Business Journal’s list of Largest Research Universities posted Friday, Aug. 19.
The rankings are based on research funding received in 2015, which totaled $34.38 million at SIUE. Also on the list are Washington University, University of Missouri-Columbia, SIU Carbondale and Saint Louis University.
“As a master’s granting institution, for SIUE to be recognized among the top doctoral research institutions in the region is a testament to our faculty’s commitment to being strong teachers and scholars,” said Jerry Weinberg, PhD, associate provost for research and dean of the SIUE Graduate School. “SIUE embraces the teacher-scholar philosophy. Teaching gives research a voice. It provides the motivation for learning and inspires the next generation of researchers.”
