Dr. George Zehak to Speak at SIU School of Dental Medicine Commencement
The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine will bestow doctor of dental medicine degrees upon 50 students at its commencement ceremony being held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4 in the Meridian Ballroom of SIUE’s Morris University Center.
George R. Zehak, DDS, an active advocate for organized dentistry and continuing education, will be featured as the ceremony’s keynote speaker. Zehak is president of the Chicago Dental Society, and has served as past president of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry and past chair of the Chicago Dental Society Foundation.
“Dr. Zehak has consistently been a vocal and active proponent of dental education in Illinois,” said Bruce Rotter, DMD and dean of the SIU School of Dental Medicine. “Through the years, he has been an avid supporter and good friend of the School of Dental Medicine. We are honored to have him as our featured speaker at our 2016 commencement ceremony.”
Zehak received his bachelor’s from Loyola University in 1973 and his doctorate of dental surgery from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1977. He is a master of the Academy of General Dentistry, the professional association from which he has earned a Lifelong Learning Award. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International, for which he serves as USA North Central Section Editor.
