SIU Board of Trustees Approves SIUE 2016-17 Tuition Increase
The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees today approved a tuition increase for the 2016-17 Academic Year that will result in a $690 increase over last year for newly entering, in-state undergraduates on the Edwardsville campus. The board met on the Edwardsville campus.
With the increase, the annual tuition rate will be $8,352 for new, in-state full-time undergraduate students (15 hours per semester) entering fall 2016. Undergraduate students currently in a guaranteed tuition plan will see no increase in their annual tuition rate.
“Even with this increase, SIUE is still at the midpoint among our peers in the Midwest for tuition,” said Stephen Hansen, SIUE interim chancellor. “SIUE offers the second lowest tuition among Illinois public universities.”
A $282 annual increase was also approved for SIUE in-state graduate students for the coming fall. In-state, full-time students (12 hours per semester) in the SIUE Graduate School will pay $7,320 in tuition.
Tuition will remain the same for students enrolled in both the School of Dental Medicine (SDM) and in the School of Pharmacy (SOP). In-state SDM students will pay an annual tuition of $29,124, while in-state SOP students will pay an annual tuition of $23,448.
With policy instituted during 2014, in-state tuition is also available to entering freshman and transfer students, and master’s level graduate students from the regional states of Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
