Alumna Keys Named Director of Graduate Education at SIUE
Alumna Tessa Keys is the new director of graduate education in the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Graduate School. Keys has proven her dedication to student success through her previous work in the SIUE School of Pharmacy (SOP) where she developed academic enrollment plans and aided in policy development for student progression.
“Ms. Keys’ background in higher education administration and her excellent work in supporting student success in the School of Pharmacy provide her with the knowledge and experience to understand the needs of graduate students,” said Jerry Weinberg, associate provost for research and dean of the Graduate School. “She has a strong commitment to student success that we look forward to her bringing to the Graduate School.”
As director of graduate education, Keys will be responsible for administering programs and services for graduate students and expanding the master’s in healthcare informatics program. She will coordinate graduate program assessment and review, and will be involved on matters of retention and integrative studies degrees.
“SIUE has provided me with both an excellent education and a solid foundation for working in higher education,” Keys said. “I am excited to further advance the University’s mission of excellence and help students achieve their goals. I plan to strengthen the connection of graduate students to campus and aid in retention and progression to graduation.”
Keys earned a bachelor’s in psychology from SIUE in 2004 and a master’s in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University in 2005. She previously served as an academic advisor in the SOP and has actively participated in multiple academic committees at local and national levels.
