National Residence Hall Honorary Welcomes New Members
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Red Storm Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) inducted four University Housing residents on Sunday, Nov. 29 during a ceremony in Evergreen Hall. Keynote speaker Mallory Sidarous, University Housing staff member and honorary NRHH member, highlighted the NRHH values of service, recognition and student leadership.
Inductees included Sierra Ewing, of Champaign; Michael McGee, of Marion; Aaron Armstrong, of Altamont; and Anita Jackson, of Pingree Grove. They joined the more than 130 SIUE University Housing residents that have been inducted to the NRHH Red Storm Chapter since 2006.
The NRHH is the recognition branch of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). Top student leaders are recognized by membership and are considered members of the top one percent of residence hall leaders.
Each year, the Red Storm Chapter has the opportunity to induct honorary members. The designation is for people who do not meet the requirements to be an active member, but who have contributed a great deal to University Housing and NRHH.
Requirements include a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, housing residency for at least two semesters prior to and the semester of selection, non-professional contract holding students, and demonstration of outstanding leadership and service in University Housing.
McKenzie Whitaker, Prairie Hall community director and NRHH advisor was inducted as an honorary member this past spring. Since 2006, more than 30 SIUE faculty and staff have been inducted as honorary members.
