Bluff Hall is a freshman residence building that houses a 24-hour state-of-the-art computer lab, laundry facilities, snack bar, activity wing and Focus Interest Communities. All first year buildings are fully furnished, air conditioned, smoke-free and feature suite-style facilities: two persons share each room and four persons share a bathroom. Each wing has an academic lounge for quiet study and a social lounge containing a kitchenette, microwave and cable television.

Cougar Village has 496 student apartments and is home to single students, graduate students and family residents, as well as the Transfer Focused Interest Community. All single student apartments are fully furnished, air conditioned, smoke-free, and either two-bedroom or three-bedrooms. Applicants may choose a shared bedroom (two people in a bedroom designed for two) or a private bedroom (one person in a bedroom designed for one).

Description
Environmental Resources Training Center was designated by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency as the Illinois center for the continuing education of personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, and management of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems. ERTC courses are designed to assist both entry-level personnel who are preparing for a career in drinking water and wastewater treatment systems, and persons already employed in such systems who desire education to upgrade job skills, obtain advanced certification levels and prepare for more responsible positions.

Evergreen Hall features apartment- and suite-style living in a residence hall environment. Students are able to choose between various floor plans, most of which include private bedrooms. This facility houses a multifunction room, meeting rooms, and a fitness center, just to name a few. In addition, it is home to the Second Year Experience Program, where second year residents can continue to develop their leadership and academic study skills.

This indoor softball facility is 110 feet by 110 feet with a full infield and bases. There are three pitching areas and two 80-foot cages that can be divided to accommodate up to four hitters at a time.

The Heating and Refrigeration Plant was built in 1965 and houses the campus chiller plant. The large green tank adjacent to the building houses the largest chilled water storage system in Illinois Higher Education and cools the campus core buildings by running chillers at night using much cheaper off peak electricity.

Stratton Quadrangle (The Quad) is designed without a direct pathway between two buildings, ensuring that students have some exposure to nature as they walk from one building to another. The Rock (official name), located in The Quad, was supplied by the same company that provided the granite used in the construction of the core buildings on the campus. The rock is constantly changing color, as campus organizations compete to see who can keep it painted the longest.

The National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center is a not-for-profit research center focused on the validation of near-term technologies for enhancing the economics and sustainability of renewable fuel production. Alternate use of the facility for bioprocessing scale up or validation is also possible. The Center conducts work for industrial or institutional clients under confidentiality agreements on a fee-for-service basis.
