Committees and Boards
Anyone in the student body is eligible to apply to join a committee if they meet the criteria in our bylaws [pdf].If you are interested in joining any of the committees listed below please stayed tuned for the application this fall.
Finance Board
The Finance Board makes recommendations to the Student Senate regarding allocation of funds to support student organizations, student travel and student programming. The board shall exercise fiscal responsibility in establishing recommendations and will work with all organizations in developing a sound approach to program budgeting.
Information for Student Organizations: Registered student organizations are eligible to apply for programming funds, travel funds and allocation funds. For more information on Student Organization Funding processes and forms, visit the funding page.

External Affairs Committee
The External Affairs Committee shall be responsible for all activities outside of Student Government, including lobbying efforts and community involvement. Throughout the school year the External Affairs Officer and the committee plan events that are sponsored by Student Government.

Student Organization Advisory Board
The SOAB shall be responsible for overseeing and making recommendations for space distribution, as well as approving or revoking any student organization’s constitution. The board will also make recommendations on the status of student organizations and review the criteria for an organization’s recognition, which includes reviewing and recommending revisions to the Student Organization Handbook.

Marketing and Communications Committee
The Marketing and Communications committee meets every other Monday and is responsible for helping Student Government properly implement brand management. They aid in coming up with creative ideas for merchandise, social media and all Student Government events. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

Student Diversity Council
The Student Diversity Council shall be responsible for improving communication between diverse student groups and the University Administration, as well as creating recommendations for University Governing bodies. The council shall promote diversity and inclusive programming, and assist the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion with efforts in creating a campus climate that embodies the five values of SIUE.

Fee Review Commission (Fall Semester Only)
The Fee Review Commission shall be responsible for reviewing and researching all student fee changes in accordance with the fee review process. The commission will propose recommendations in fees to the Senate for approval.

Election Commission (Spring Semester Only)
The Election Commissioner oversees the Student Government elections. They are an unbiased resource that will plan election debates, manage the regulations of the campaigns and run the student body voting.

2023-2024 Campus Committees/Boards
SIUE students are asked to serve on a variety of committees and boards each year. If you would like to be considered for one of these boards, please contact Interanl Affairs Officer Kaia Ford (kfordaa@siue.edu) or fill out a SG Committee Application on GetInvolved.
- Committee on Assessment - Establishes and implements SIUE Assessment Plan and makes recommendations to the Curriculum Council. Meets monthly on the first Friday 1-3 p.m.
- Counseling Services and Health Services Advisory Board - Advises operation of these services to students. Meets once a month. Tuesday at 10 a.m..
- Curriculum Council - Considers all aspects of undergraduate curricula. Meets monthly, third Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
- General Education Committee - Reviews the general education programs. Meets once a month in the library. Date and Time TBD.
- Graduate Committee on Assessment - Works with graduate school on assessment of its programs and faculty. Meets once a month in the graduate school conference room in Rendleman Hall. Day and Time TBD.
- Graduate Council - Participates in developing the curriculum and formulating policies about graduate education, research and financial support for the graduate students. These two graduate students would also serve one each on either Programs Committee or Educational and Research Policies Committee. Meet once a month on a Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
- Honorary Degrees and Distinguished Service Awards Committee - Reviews applicants and nominees for awards. Meets approximately once a semester. Day and Time TBD.
- Intercollegiate Athletic Committee - The responsibilities of the ICAC are to review, develop and make recommendations to the AD on matters relating to the Intercollegiate Athletics Program at SIUE. Meets monthly on last Friday from noon to 1p.m.
- Parking & Traffic Committee - Reviews suggestions for Parking Services and oversees ticket appeals. Meets once a month on a Friday. 2nd Friday 9 - 10:30 a.m..
- Residential Housing Association (RHA) - Works to create a better environment for students living on campus. Meets twice a month on a Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Evergreen.
- Student Publications Advisory Committee - Selects Editor-In-Chief and oversees the Aleste's operations, finances and any complaints. Meets once in the fall and once in the spring. Day and Time TBD.
- Sustainability Action Group - Makes recommendations to University regarding sustainability on campus. Meets three times a semester, usually on a Friday 11 a.m.
- Teaching Excellence Awards Committee - Reviews and recommends nominations for various teaching awards. Fall semester there are a few meetings, then in the spring the students must attend nominated professor's classes to review.
- Textbook Service Advisory Committee - Addresses the usage of textbooks and facilitates interaction between operations and users of Textbook Service. Meets twice a semester. Friday 1 - 3 p.m..
- University Center Board (UCB) - Advises Morris University Center management staff on policy, building services, finances and programs. Meets once a month, first Wednesday at 7:30 a.m., feel free to have breakfast while meeting via zoom.
- University Policy & Budget Council (UPBC) - Advises the Chancellor about University planning and budget concerns. Meets Friday, 10:30 a.m.-noon. Also has a sub-committee the Committee on Higher Administrators Performance Appraisal (CHAPA) which establishes and implements procedures for evaluating the work performance of the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors.
