How to Get Started with Grants (and Make External Funding Part of Your Career) Workshop: Insights and Strategies
This workshop will present fundamental strategies for pursuing external grant funding, including how to choose the right funder, prepare a competitive proposal, integrate grants into your career plan, and avoid the top ten mistakes of first-time proposal writers.

Sharon will include examples and tips from her experiences serving as a reviewer for five federal agencies and securing 30 external grants as a faculty member at SIUE. She is currently the Director of the SIUE STEM Center and Professor of Environmental Sciences and previously served as a program officer in the STEM Education Directorate at the National Science Foundation.
