CORE T.E.A.M.

COllege REadiness: Transition. Engage. Achieve. Mentor. (CORE TEAM) is home to several of the University’s premier college preparatory programs, including the SIUE Summer Success Program and the SIUE Pre-Collegiate Programs. These programs assist first-generation high school students, students from economically disadvantaged communities and new, first-time college students by providing comprehensive college preparatory and social development skills.
ESRA

Organizational Chart
Enrollment Systems, Research and Analysis (ESRA) provides support to the University community in a variety of ways. We are available to consult and collaborate as you consider new software solutions supporting student learning and success. We conduct market research in support of new program development and existing program reviews.
ESRA is made possible by the University’s highly selective Innovation Grant program. ESRA’s dual mission is to centrally support systems, analytic tools and other ancillary software that Enrollment Management and its six sub-units manage on behalf of the University and to engage in research that supports and enhances the University’s strategic goals.
FINANCIAL AID

The SIUE Office of Student Financial Aid is committed to helping students finance their college education by combining scholarships, grants, student loans, parent loans, or student employment from a variety of federal, state, private and institutional resources. Last year, the Student Financial Aid office administered more than $160 million in grants, loans, tuition waivers, scholarships and student wages for SIUE students.
Once students are enrolled at SIUE, they can check on their personal student records through CougarNet or find a student job through Student Employment.
GRADUATE AND INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

The Office of Graduate and International Admissions works to recruit diverse graduate and doctoral students as well as international undergraduate students. With nearly 2,600 graduate students enrolled, SIUE is committed to providing intellectual and academically rigorous programs.
The office is the point of contact and main resource for students, parents, international agents and others who assist students in their decision to further their education.
The Office of Graduate and International Admissions is supported by the associate director, Carrie Stewart, and the review and processing team.
MILITARY AND VETERAN SERVICES

Military and Veteran Services (MAVS) goal is to make military-connected transition to SIUE a smooth process. We recognize the sacrifice made and the difficulties attributed with making this transition. To ease these complications, we are committed to informing, advising and assisting veterans, active military, their dependents/spouses, or survivors to provide the tools and assistance necessary to achieve academic success.
Our office is available to guide military-connected on the steps needed to fully utilize their educational benefits, including certain requests and application forms to obtain awarded benefits. We are connected to an array of SIUE departments to ensure the military-connected are able to use the many on-campus resources available to them, securing a course to prosperity. Integrating military-connected into the SIUE community and helping provide the best possible experience while pursuing educational goals is our main focus.

RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS

The Office of Retention and Student Success provides students with the necessary resources to enhance their academic performance, to work individually and collectively in addressing student academic needs, to provide programs that foster students’ intercultural campus connections, and to retain students so they may be academically successful and graduate from SIUE.
The Office of Retention and Student Success comprises three offices:
- Office of First Year and Transitional Advising – The Office of First Year and Transitional Advising provides a wide range of academic services for undergraduate students. Until a student declares to a program at SIUE, students will be advised by professional staff advisors within this office. Academic advisors are here to aid with course selection and to offer information to help you reach your personal, educational and career goals.
- Learning Support Services – Learning Support Services (LSS) is a supplemental learning program, complete with a free tutoring service and study space for SIUE students. LSS also partners with several University learning communities and houses the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program. The LSS staff prides themselves on the academic atmosphere of the facility, which is focused on academic support and guidance so that SIUE students can accomplish serious academic work without distraction.
- Testing Services – For the convenience of students, SIUE offers a variety of tests through Testing Services. These tests include, but are not limited to, placement exams, proficiency tests, CLEP and standardized nursing exams.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The Office of Admissions’ purpose is to recruit prospective students and inform them of the excellent educational programs and opportunities at SIUE. Admission counselors will help facilitate the application process and work with students’ individual needs.
The office is the point of contact and main resource for students, parents, high school counselors, community college counselors/advisors, and others who assist students in their decision to pursue a postsecondary education.
The Office of Admissions comprises five units:
- Academic Mailing: Sends requested materials to prospective students who inquire about SIUE. Academic mailing also provides reports and maintains data that facilitates effective recruitment of new students.
Contact: Kim Hamel - Admission Counseling: Counsels all new students about pursuing an education at SIUE, through high school and community college visits throughout Illinois and parts of Missouri, as well as through personal meetings during students’ visits to campus.
- Admission Review and Processing: Reviews and processes all applications for admission (freshman and transfer) from new and returning students.
- New Student Programs: Coordinates Springboard to Success (freshman orientation), Transfer Orientation, and New Student Welcome and Convocation programs. These programs also facilitate course registration for freshmen and transfers.
