Mechanical Engineering Scholarships
Thomas P. Anderson Mechanical Engineering Scholarship
The Anderson Scholarship was established in 2004 by the generous donation of the late Professor Thomas P. Anderson's family for mechanical engineering at SIUE. The purpose of the scholarship is to honor an outstanding junior or senior mechanical engineering student.
Evan David Allen Scholarship
Evan David Allen was born May 24, 2002 to proud parents Daven and Nathan Allen of Edwardsville, Illinois. Evan loved camping, fishing, riding on his father's four-wheeler, and especially, at the age of 4, riding his own dirt bike. Evan's curiosity with how things worked and with how they were built, lent to the display of his developing mechanical ability. Evan enjoyed taking many opportunities to try and teach his younger brother, Noah, what he knew and understood about how things worked.
Evan left this world three days before his kindergarten graduation. He dearly loved school, and the week before his graduation he was asked three questions. The questions were asked so the responses could be read aloud when he should have accepted his kindergarten diploma at N.O. Nelson Elementary School. Evan's answer to the third question, “What would you like to be when you grow up,” was a scientist. Evan, who loved to put on his Spider Man Costume and play Superheroes with his brother, and who loved to help his mother and father with any constructive project that he could, had a thirst for life and knowledge that he will not be able to fulfill here on Earth. We would like to honor Evan by sharing the opportunity of a college education, an opportunity that he did not have, with students in an area, in which we strongly feel, Evan might have chosen.
