The School of Engineering is known nationally and internationally for its strength in non-linear dynamics and vibration. The group of faculty members in this field is involved in research and teaching of the dynamics of non-smooth dynamical system, transmission dynamical systems and friction-induced oscillators, machine vibration and vibration induced material fatigue, multi-body dynamics, dynamics of gear transmission and more. SIUE has one of the best vibration laboratories in the region.
