Day-of Instructions
Accessible Parking
- Disability parking permits are not issued for this event.
- Those with state issued placards or tags may park in any accessible parking spot.
- Those who do not have a state issued placard or tags may be dropped off at the west entrance of the First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center on Lot F.
Accessible Seating
Graduates, if you need special accommodations, please contact the commencement staff no later than two weeks prior to ceremonies.
Accessible seating is on a first come, first served basis. Accessible seating is labeled for guests on the gym floor and second level of the First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center main gym. Each individual is allotted one companion seat per wheelchair. Due to limited space, we cannot accommodate your entire party in these sections.
Interpreters
Sign language interpreters are available on stage at each ceremony to assist the deaf and hearing impaired.
Pets
No animals are permitted in University buildings or facilities, with the exception of the following: service animals for persons with disabilities; animals used by law enforcement or emergency personnel in the exercise of their official duties; or animals approved pursuant to University Housing resident guidelines, including therapy animals for residents with disabilities. Approved therapy animals are not permitted in University buildings other than Housing units.
Timing
We encourage guests in need of special accommodations to arrive at least 45-60 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Seating is not available in the lobbies, so we do not recommend arriving more than 60 minutes before ceremonies.
Wheelchairs
A limited number of wheelchairs will be available for loan in the lobbies and Equipment Issue in the Student Fitness Center during commencement ceremonies. If you borrow a wheelchair, please know that you are responsible for returning it.
Commencement staff will be available to assist guests to their seats if needed.
