Dr. Maurer is actively involved in roundtable discussions and other initiatives aimed at internationalizing SIUE campus. She works with recruitment of international graduate students in the Graduate School coordinating with Dr. Ron Schaefer and the International Studies office.
Dr. Maurer is also involved in ADVANCE team (NSF) for advancement of women and minority women in the STEM and SBS disciplines. Dr. Maurer ADVANCE works with other institutions that have received this grant such as University of Michigan and Grand Valley State University. The goal of this initiative is to study and then create initiatives leading to advancement of women faculty in STEM and SBS. With resources and support from SIUE advisory board and NSF grant, ADVANCE has embarked on a two year study at SIUE to collect data and raise awareness about women in the STEM disciplines.
