Dr. Grossman engages in collaborative research with colleagues from Seikei University, Tokyo, Japan. Together with his colleagues, Dr. Grossman has been working on the reconstruction of a history of typhoons affecting Japan in the 19th century. They examine historical documents (e.g. newspapers, diaries, and government records) to reconstruct a history of typhoons that affected Japan in the 19th century. This will result in a new data set to help the team investigate climatic changes in Japan.
