Premiering on the 89.9 WLCA airwaves in September 2016, Obscurity Knocks is a weekly radio show hosted by me, Matt Monroe, every Sunday on 89.9 WLCA from 12-3PM. Originally an off-shoot of the station's New Music Show, Obscurity Knocks has held strong in its determination to play the latest and greatest in the lesser explored, bouncing back and forth from new music in the indie music-sphere and classics amongst the indie canon. If you want to hear your new favorite band/artist before they become your new favorite band/artist, Obscurity Knocks should be destination listening as along with appearing on the FM airwaves of the northern St. Louis, Missouri market area (as well as the city of St. Louis and parts of the Metro-East area), the show can be heard every week on the WLCA website or the Radio FX app. | I'm Matt Monroe, a Mass Communications student at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville, Moderator/AMA Coordinator for the music subreddit r/indieheads (where I also host the Indieheads Podcast), and host of Obscurity Knocks. I've been writing and talking about music online since 2014, and hosting Obscurity Knocks specifically since 2016. I've been a passionate lover of music since high school, and Obscurity Knocks has been a common outlet for me to express that love for music for years and years. Along with hosting this show, I've been working as hard as ever coordinating multiple AMAs every week over at r/indieheads, working with companies like Pitch Perfect PR, Motormouth, Grandstand HQ, and more to bring esteemed guests like (Sandy) Alex G, Big Thief, and the Hugo Award-nominated clipping. to the subreddit. I'm also a graduate of Lewis and Clark Community College, where I earned my Associates in Radio Broadcasting. |
